Healthy Tips For Picky Eaters

Does any of these remind you of your child/children?

-“She will only eat mac & cheese for dinner”

-“He use to love eating grapes, now he wont eat them at all”

Many children develop picky eating habits to certain food textures and colors. The United states Department of Agriculture (USDA) states that ” picky eating is common for many children ages 2 – 5 years old” (Healthy Tips for Picky Eaters, 2012). Oftentimes children may “play” with their food instead of eating, this is also a signs of picky eating.

The USDA says picky eating is “temporary” (2012) and usually ends by the time children are ready for kindergarten.

Always remember to speak with your child/children’s healthcare provider for any concerns your may have.

Recalls

The FDA is advising consumers not to use recalled Similac, Alimentum, or EleCare powdered infant formulas. Recalled products can be identified by the 7 to 9 digit code and expiration date on the bottom of the package (see image below). Products are included in the recall if they have all three items below:

  • the first two digits of the code are 22 through 37 and
  • the code on the container contains K8, SH, or Z2, and
  • the expiration date is 4-1-2022 (APR 2022) or later.
